Run to Remember 5k at Old Hilliardfest 2016
Old Hilliardfest is excited to announce that they have partnered with Rotary Club of Hilliard and Hilliard Optimist Club Youth Sports to present the first annual Run to Remember 5k.
The race is dedicated to the First Responders and the memory of those lost during 9/11. As Hilliard has lost it’s first Police Officer while on duty, this race will provide proceeds to the family of Officer Johnson.
Vowing that “we will never forget”, the City of Hilliard has constructed one of the largest memorials in the country to pay tribute to First Responders everywhere and to insure the events of 9/11 are remembered forever.
“We will never forget” is the theme that resonates with so many Americans as the great sacrifice of those who died in the shadow of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.
Parking will be available at the Hilliard Heritage Middle School where a small ceremony to set the tone of the day will be conducted before the start of the race. The race will begin at 9:30am, continue on to the Hilliard Rails to Trails, and conclude at Hilliard’s First Responder Park where we will celebrate the lives who selflessly saved others on 9/11.
Concluding the race we invite all participants to enjoy Old Hilliardfest, which features live music, great food, kids games, carnival rides, a car show, and much more.
